Brixton.

I was born and raised (for better or worse) at the legendary L.S. Mash & Sons in Brixton market. Red snapper will always have a special place in my heart from these days serving the Caribbean community around Electric Avenue.

Old School.

Some things will never change … and I hope they don’t. You can still visit the L&J fish shop (aka Harry Otto & Sons), where I spent 9 years learning the tricks of the trade & seasoning my hands for a life in ice.

Grinding.

It is through my time in this harsh environment that I truly began to value how each & every task is important and should be done with pride - from cleaning the drains to cleaning each and every fish.

Giving back.

I take great joy in teaching, and some of the highlights in my life are when I am showing others how to care for fish and our environment - whether it be at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen apprenticeship program or training the chefs at Ottolenghi and Bao.

Respect.

Broadway Market in East London has an energy like no other. Managing the fishmonger there for eight years was transitional for me. The people of Hackney showed me so much love and support, that it is here I evolved into the artisan I am now.

Expertise.

I am proud to say that I am the only certified Master Fishmonger working in retail in London from the reputable Master Fishmonger Standard. They are upholding the heritage of the craft and share my passion to preserve our seas.

And now - oeno maris.
